Never Let Me Go

Kazuo Ishiguro

One of my favourite novels ever, and certainly my favourite from the 21st century. I absolutely love how Ishiguro paints character here. They feel so effortlessly human, with these broad strokes and airy, hazy characters that remind of you people. They’re lovely and messy and petty but at the end, they truly do feel like people. Although it is science fiction, that is employed only very subtly, not quite as much as he does in Klara and the Sun. I don’t have too much to say about this, other than that if I had to recommend a book to someone to read, this would certainly be it (you wouldn’t generally recommend Dostoevsky, would you?)
